“Only the knife knows what goes on in the heart of a pumpkin.”  – Simon Schwarz-Bart

As the summer season has officially come to a close it’s time to pull out all things pumpkin! Yes, that includes pumpkin spice and everything nice. Fall is a very anticipated season among many: the crisp weather, layers, and of course going to the pumpkin patch.

If you’re from the Fraser Valley (Abbotsford specifically) you’ll know there are no shortages of patches to choose from – and it’s fun for the whole family. Grab your umbrellas, gum boots, and scarves and head out for an afternoon of fun.

Here’s a list of our top “go-to” patches for those living in the Valley.

1. Maan Farms

It all began back in 1977 when the Maan’s family started producing cole crops, which eventually shifted to growing strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Jump forward to today and three generations later Maan’s Farm has a ton of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

From their pumpkin patches, corn maze, petting zoo, and so much more – you are bound to spend the entire afternoon their playing and picking out the perfect pumpkin.

Address: 790 McKenzie Rd, Abbotsford

2. Willow View Farms

Recently this farm experienced a fire, but this has not stopped them from allowing the public to enjoy everything this farm has to offer – including their amazing apple slushies (they’re heaven in a cup). I will admit this is my go-to place in Abbotsford come this time of year for many sentimental reasons but they also provide hayrides, a petting zoo, and have a yummy concession. Not to mention they have an awesome selection of pumpkins (and not just the orange ones)!

Address: 288 McCallum Road, Abbotsford

3. Taves Farms (Apple Barn)

Another local favourite, this farm is all about growing and sharing food that they are proud of: from their apples, to their pumpkins! The list of activities at this farm is long, enjoy partaking in a hayride, bunny town, zipline, and the playground!

If you’re a fan of apple cider Taves makes their own and it’s only here till the end of October (and you can only get it at their farm), come quick before it’s gone!

Ps – Did I mention they also have a pumpkin cannon? I know where I am going once Halloween is over.

Address: 333 Gladwin Rd, Abbotsford
