5TH ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

On November 18th, Highstreet Shopping Centre will host its annual Holiday Show and Tree Lighting. On for it’s fifth year in a row, the show and attractions just keep getting better and better.

I for one have yet to go – due to weather conditions, having a baby, you name it! But this year I have made it a plan to take my now two-year old and meet up with some friends and enjoy the giant 65-foot Christmas Tree being lit in central plaza. I think it’s extremely important to create memories and traditions when the kids are small so what a great opportunity! Plus I’ve lived in Abbotsford 7 years… it’s about time I go.

If you don’t have plans for this Saturday yet, and are a local to the Fraser Valley, you should stop by Highstreet. Some of the highlights of the evening are going to include:

·     Santa’s arrival and the lighting of a 65-foot Christmas tree
·     Meeting Rudolf, Frosty, and Spandy Andy the dancing elf
·     A 40-piece marching band, holiday dancers, stilt walkers, and photos with Santa.
·    A guaranteed snowfall.
In case you can’t make it this weekend, every Saturday afterwards, from November 18th to December 16th, shoppers can enjoy a 30-minute show featuring a multi-media light display, utilizing 6,000 tri-coloured LED bulbs, set to musical favourites.
