Chilliwack Travel Guide: A Day Plan

As  long time Chilliwack residents we can safely say, you really  have to like the outdoors to enjoy this place. Chilliwack is not the place you go to have a night out on the town. On the contrary, Chilliwack is a place where you  can escape the hustle and bustle, enjoy some fresh air, and nature!

The town peaks in Summer- offering all the hikes and lake days you could imagine! Chilliwack is a town full of gorgeous greenery that anyone could admit is captivating.

Here is a guide to a perfect late Spring or Summer day!

 MORNING:

Start out your morning right and get your blood flowing with a scenic hike!

We suggest:

  1. Lindeman Lake
  2. Teapot Hill
  3. Mt. Thom

A personal favourite is Lindeman, nothing beats a drive with the morning sun in your face, no service, positive energy and great tunes. The drive alone is worth it!

You’ll probably be starving after your hike and will definitely want to head into town for breakfast. We recommend a large and delicious breakfast at any of these restaurants:

  1. Ricky’s All Day Grill ( breakfast bowls to die for and breakfast until 3pm )
  1. Cookie’s Grill ( hearty and delicious breakfast served until 4pm )
  1. The Harvest Cafe ( Sandwiches, Soups, Salads, and Wraps! Dine-in or grab n’ go! )

AFTERNOON:

On the warmer days, we suggest heading up to Cultus Lake to soak up that valley sunshine! Bring your barbecues, bathing suits, and blankets, it’s a lake day!

There are two main rivers flowing through Chilliwack, The Vedder and The Fraser. On those rivers you can sit on the sidelines and enjoy a picnic or get with it and participate in fishing, kayaking, tubing, horseback riding, cycling, and camping.  Like we’ve mentioned, you’ve really got to like the outdoors.

 GOOD EATS:

A couple yummy places to get your lunch ( or brunch ) on, include:

 Alicia’s Flavours

the most scrumptious tacos, talk about SCORE!

 Sara Bella’s

This is a gluten free, vegan/vegetarian cafe with plenty of delicious sandwiches, soups, and salads to keep you going all day!

 THE EVENING:

For the evening we recommend taking a walk around historic downtown and checking out the shops and dinner of course

Some great ideas for dinner:

The Garrison Bistro

Located in beautiful Garrison Crossing the Bistro is an award-winning restaurant, offering pasta’s and classic entree dishes with urban and robust flavours.

Shandhar Hut

If hot and spicy deliciousness is your thing, we recommend Shandhar a family owned restaurant with authentic flavours is definitely something to be on the look-out for! Support local!

Paliotti’s

An Italian restaurant and bar. Enjoy pastas and pizzas, comforting and homestyle cooking with vegetarian options!

Don’t be shy! Give Chilliwack a try! We may not have the world’s best mall, but we sure do have the best community. Enjoy the sunshine and the nature, we are sure Chilliwack will capture your heart.
